Dancing free 12-26

Last week iPods drowned in raging pools of fun in what was possibly the most epic rain/mud dance ever.  Wetsuits, boogie boards, and little ziploc iPod baggies were the perfect ingredients for our mud-sliding soundtrack. Note to city parks officials:  The big pit of mud now in the center of Alameda park has nothing to do with us.

Because so many of us are out of town, we will be using an oldie but goodie... DJ Rincon's mix from 10/3/10.  Rain hats and dancing shoes required.

Halloween awe-spiciously falls on a Sunday, which makes it a very special Halloween.  Many people have suggested that Just Dance Free incorporate costumes or themes.  Here is the chance.  The theme this week is "Halloween".  The person with the best costume will win the admiration of everyone around!

Dancing will be the perfect way to wet our appetites for trick-or-treating after the sun goes down.  Also, Berzercus Circus of Isla Vista will be practicing their circus moves at the park immediately after the dance, and all are welcome to stick around and learn some circus tricks.

A dance to remember!

40 souls and 80 soles pounded the turf and silently bounded and grooved and leaped and pirouetted and JUST DANCED in the park this last Sunday in our 6th Just Dance Free gathering. 

Without a doubt, our highest energy get together yet, with many sweaty new faces and limbs whirling around happily as the sun set.  The excitement is palpable!  New standards in Fun are being set every Sunday!  And the best part is briefly taking off the headphones to see all of those crazy silent dancers synced in their world of dancing joy.

And a HUGE thank you to DJ Zander for putting together an astounding, foot stomping mix!  Be sure to hear him DJ at the West Beach Music Festival the last weekend in September.

Last Sunday was another ridiculously fun outing with new faces and new jams and new oglers.  But the real story is that Just Dance Free dancers pushed play at the same time in three time zones around the US!  Just 21 more time zones to go!

Last Sunday another great group gathered and celebrated the waning days of Summer by bouncing, flailing and wriggling about in sync (and out of sync)  for another successful Just Dance Free iPod dance gathering. 

 If any of you have any friends, put an iPod on them and bring them to the park.  Soon we hope to see Alameda Park completely filled with crazy dancers bounding about.  See you all next Sunday....  Check back for the mix!

Just Dance Free 8-22

Ecstatic, sweaty, silent dancers bounding about on the grass on a warm summer evening as a golden sunset splashes nostalgic rays through the trees on our dancing circle... What could be better?    Last Sunday was another smashing success, filled to the brim and overflowing with fun and laughter and beautifully out of sync synchronicity! 

Thanks to DJ MNAZ for fusing dance-dubstep-pop-indie-oldies-reggae into another outstanding dance mix!

 Also, we are considering a switch to Friday evenings at 6 pm but will base the decision on what works best for y'all, so be sure to let us know.  This coming week will still be Sunday at 6 pm regardless of what we decide for the future.

And lastly, we are looking for good DJ's who might be interested in making a couple of mixes for us to dance to.  So if you DJ or know someone who does, let us know.

JUST DANCE FREE 8-15-10

For the second week running freedancers bounded, jumped and danced to the good vibrations of another swoopingly successful JUST DANCE FREE gathering.  26 dancers danced and numerous perplexed park patrons stopped to spectate as we got our wild silent groove on.

8-8-10 Inaugural Free Dance

Our first meetup of the Free Dancers took Alameda Park West by storm last Sunday @ 6pm.

Fifteen intrepid souls met up and synced in, getting down with their bad selves while leaving the turf shredded and passing joggers thoroughly confused.
